The funding for the Geothermal Alliance Bavaria (GAB) collaborative research project, which is being carried out by the Technical University of Munich together with the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, the University of Bayreuth, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Munich University of Applied Sciences, will enter its second phase from 2021 to 2024. The existing Bavarian research network was launched in 2016 and has since established itself in deep geothermal research. Funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts (StMWK), the project is intended to help strengthen the domestic energy source of geothermal energy and thereby make a significant contribution to CO2 reduction targets.
